HEMATITE IRON ORE:
Huge deposits of Oolitic hematite iron are available in Khuzdar District of Balochistan. It is one of the best stratiform deposits in Pakistan. These deposits are occurring in form of blankets /large sheets. Each blanket varies in length from 100 meter to more than 5000 meter with average width of 50 meter. The thickness of each ore body is also variable ranges from 0.3 meter to 6 meter with average thickness of 2 meter. These have very gentle dip up to 5 degree and thus can be easily extracted through open pit mining. Beneficiation study of the deposits was also conducted wherein the ore was successfully upgraded for its use in steel industry. Initial survey indicates estimated reserves of about 200 million tones with average grade of 45% iron.
IRON ORE:
Sedimentary iron deposits are available in meta-sedimentary rocks at Hazara division. It has an average thickness of 1.5 meter (from 1cm to 3 meter). These deposits are extensively explored through geological mapping, surface trenches and sampling. The samples show a grade of 32 to 38 % Fe. The tonnage has been estimated at 42.16 million tones.
Iron ore (magnetite) deposits are available in Baluchistan province. Ore bodies are in the form of convex lenses, scattered 300 meter long from south to north and 100 to 200 meter wide from east to west. The deposits were subjected to detail exploration comprised of geological mapping, geophysical survey, core drilling and sampling. As result a total of 6 million tons reserves have been established in proven category. The average content of fixed iron (Fe) is 60 %. Infrastructure facilities in shape of road & water are good. The company has obtained mining rights and has already developed an open pit mine.
